City Foods, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois, is recalling approximately 3,215 pounds of ready-to-eat pastrami and corned beef products that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The ready-to-eat pastrami and corned beef products were produced on July 16, 2026, and have a 60-day shelf life.
The products were shipped to foodservice locations in Illinois, Iowa, and Michigan, and were further distributed nationwide.
Affected Products
The following products are subject to recall:
- Midamar Premium Beef Pastrami: 10-lb. cardboard boxes containing 2- to 5-lb. pieces with case code 19410 printed on the box label.
- BEA’S BEST COOKED CORNED BEEF BRISKET: Various weight 20- to 30-lb. cardboard boxes containing 2-3 pieces with case code 18919 printed on the box label.
- KIRSCH DELICATESSEN STYLE COOKED CORNED BEEF BRISKET: Various weight 20- to 30-lb. cardboard boxes containing 2-3 pieces with case code 19751 printed on the box label.
The products have establishment number EST. 1896 printed inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The problem was discovered during routine inspection activities. There have been no confirmed reports of illness due to consumption of these products.
What Consumers and Foodservice Locations Should Do
FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers, as well as institution refrigerators and freezers.
Consumers and institutions who have purchased these products are urged not to consume or serve them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women, and newborns.
